Welcome to boggy creek farm!
One thing we love about the home of Everyday Minerals, Austin, Texas, is that though it is a city sprawling with people, growing by the minute, there are still little pockets of paradise tucked amongst the ever-growing cityscape. One of these little pockets lies in the now densely populated area of East Austin - Boggy Creek Farm. The little white farm house, surrounded by fields of green, was built in the 1840s. In 1992, owners Carol Ann Sayle and Larry Butler purchased the farm house when it was ramshackled with doors missing and an overgrown field behind it. Soon after settling in their new home, the two took an interest in farming, and began to harvest their own fruits and vegetables on their land. They began selling at local stands, and were even some of the first to sell their crops to the original Whole Foods location on North Lamar Boulevard in Austin. Now Boggy Creek Farm is known for pioneering Austin’s urban farm movement. Their certified organic vegetables are an active part of the menus of several Austin farm-to-table restaurants including Lenoir, Olivia, and Wink, just to name a few. On their several acres of land, they grow everything from artichokes to strawberries, celery to kale, and everything in between. If you live in the area and are looking for some freshly grown produce that comes straight from the source, visit their market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting at 8 AM. For a seasonal report of their offerings, check out their website or sign up for their newsletter for weekly updates.
