The Right Song For Your Wedding Dance

As you may have noticed on our kits page, Carina has added the wedding-inspired Ever After Kit for all of you brides-to-be or everyday romantics!Today what we are going to touch on something that is arguably just as important as your wedding dress and makeup, and that is your song. For all of you ladies with an engagement ring on your finger or dreamers of one of the biggest days of your life...THIS IS FOR YOU. Grab a pencil and paper, pour a cup of hot tea and take note. Gone are the days of Disney prince-and-princess dance that you watched only on the screen. The dreamy moment is about to happen in your very own wedding day and we are sure you are excitedly looking forward to it.
Your wedding day is lurking around the corner, teasing you to think of things to be excited about and that probably includes your wedding dance. Now while your wedding dance needs to be a tad interesting, what matters the most is for you to enjoy it and make it as memorable as possible. First thing to keep in mind: dance does not have to be perfect: it simply has to be worthwhile.
As everybody's eyes are on you, it’s tricky to enter the floor with confidence and a big smile. Be calm, listen to the music, enjoy and get moving. Speaking of your wedding dance, we know you might already have ideas about which song to pair with it. We’ll give you a few more suggestions to choose from.
Here’s the top 10 most popular wedding dance songs on Spotify.
1. “Thinking Out Loud,” Ed Sheeran
2. “At Last,” Etta James
3. “You Are the Best Thing,” Ray LaMontagne
4. “All of Me,” John Legend
5. “A Thousand Years,” Christina Perri
6. “Make You Feel My Love,” Adele
7. “I Won’t Give Up,” Jason Mark
8. “Everything,” Michael Buble
9. “Better Together,” Jack Johnson
10. “Amazed,” Lonestar
These are obviously popular - so widely used - songs for wedding dances. But don’t worry! If you want to go for less of an expected song, and more of a surprise, you always have the choice of choosing your own ideal song. Be sure to do lots of research before settling on any so it’s perfect! How about hiring a live band or singer to perform the music? Or how about writing the lyrics yourself and letting a composer and singer do the arrangements for you? Just ideas! If you have a friend who is in the music industry, why not ask them the “favor” of doing the singing on your wedding day?
How about a medley or mush-ups? Choose different songs with unified flow and blend them along altogether. Better yet, hire a DJ to do this for you to create an amazing final track.
What about some classic wedding songs? Here are a few ideas. Most of these songs have the best lyrics for a wedding dance.
Just the Way You Are by Billy Joel
Maybe I'm Amazed by Paul McCartney
That's How Strong My Love Is by Otis Redding
The Best Is Yet to Come by Frank Sinatra
We've Only Just Begun by The Carpenters
Your Song by Elton John
I Only Have Eyes for You by The Flamingos
How Sweet It Is (to Be Loved by You) by James Taylor
Can't Take My Eyes Off of You by Frankie Valli or Lauryn Hill
Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley
Hey on a last note, it’s your wedding song so no need to stress about it. Although you want to make the dance and song choices memorable, it does not necessarily have to be something perfect or outstanding. It just has to be something that you love. Again, what matters here is you enjoying you and your partner’s day.
Remember what Barbara De Angelis had once said: "The real act of marriage takes place in the heart, not in the ballroom or church or synagogue. It's a choice you make - not just on your wedding day, but over and over again - and that choice is reflected in the way you treat your husband or wife.”
Enjoy your day!
