Baby, it’s cold outside . . .
The winter season could be a different challenge for your beauty routines. Your skin could turn gloomy, dry and flaky -- just like the weather.
During winters, the humidity is lower; zapping out your skin’s natural moisture. Then there goes that annoying flaking and drying. Sometimes, even the thickest moisturizers just wouldn’t do it.
Bundle up ladies. Here are some beauty routine twists you can do to keep your skin radiantly beautiful even through these dark days.
Prep your home
The air is dried out which makes your skin drier. Maximize the amount of moisture in the air by using a humidifier in a spot in your home where you spend most time. The ideal humidity level is between 40 and 60 percent. To make the most of it, apply glycerin or hyaluronic acid to draw in moisture.
Use warm water
Hot, soapy water can make dry skin worse and can strip your skin's natural oils. Use warm water and keep your baths or showers shorter, ideally 10 minutes or less. Mild, fragrance-free soaps are also the perfect choice for dry skin specially during cold season.
Cleanse gently
Your cleanser is a staple to your beauty routine. Have you been using the right one for the chilly weather? While your foamy cleanser may do its job during summers where your skin is mostly oily and sweaty, it's the other way around in winter. They can actually parch or chap your skin. Switch to a gentler cleanser, ideally one that is non-fragrant and ultra-hydrating.
Use the right products
Moisturizers are not enough. During cold season, try gentler products that are rich in moisturizing ingredients such jojoba or shea butter. For your face, you can try one of our Jojoba Bases.
And yes, you still need SPF
While the temperature might be lower, you still need to protect your skin from UV rays. UVA rays, the ones responsible to hasten skin aging, goes skin-deep and has lasting damage. This is why applying SPF even on winter times is an essential part of your skincare.
Avoid scratchy fibers
Wools can aggravate dry skin, making you itch more. Synthetic fabrics such as polyester, rayon, acetate, and nylon are also a No No to your sensitive skin. Stick to smoother, softer fabrics such as cotton.
Now onto cozy scarves, puffy jackets and sweaters, ladies!
