Pursuing Your Dreams
Harriet Tubman once said, “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” A dream is a voice within. It is something huge that you imagine to accomplish or become. A dream is kind of like puppy love. Every time you think of it, it brings butterflies to your stomach. It is this that makes you think about the greatness you can accomplish. A dream may awaken when you look at the success of others, when others inspire you, or from a simple idea from an event. Just like many of us, you may think that at the start, it is nothing but a fancy ambition. Then, you begin to realize that, "Hey, what if I do that?”, will turn to “What if I can do that?" and then soon enough, “I will do that.” If it is all in your head and you don’t put effort to execute it, then it is nothing but a dream. When you start to put your effort, perseverance, hard work and dedication to it, that is when you are on the way to accomplish something. However, it’s important to remember that making dreams come to life doesn't only take time to build. As a matter of fact, there are a whole lot of obstacles and you can definitely expect them along the way. Big dreams are not for the faint-hearted, not for the ones who easily give up and most of all, it is not for those who cannot accept failure. At some point, many people, even the ones you cared about may not believe in you. This is when a little stubbornness helps. As long as you listen to the voice in your heart, there will always be courage no matter how many trials you face, you will always find your way to get up and drag your feet toward your goals. Always have the courage to believe that you can do it. As you grow older, the circumstances that life throws may lead you to lose your dream. The day-to-day routines and mediocrities may bury the ambition in your heart. In an unfortunate case, you begin to live the life of a person who lives just to survive - no dreams, no ambition, just living the days to get by. When this happens, that is when you need to look back to the purpose of your dream. Whatever it is that you dream to become, always place a purpose with it. That purpose will keep you moving when all else fails. Everyone that we’ve looked up to were once dreamers. Just remember, the greater your dreams, the bigger the obstacles. However, just dream on, keep the hard work and believe in yourself. Dream on and you are halfway there. Work hard for that dream, and you are nearly there.
