To feel nostalgic is a bittersweet feeling. It feels as though there is a quick moment of loss, that something really happened but you cannot get back to it somehow. Your senses take you back in time. It could be a in a way of a certain smell, touch, taste or view. Nostalgia may take you back to memories that you thought you have forgotten.
Here are some great ways in which to “retro-back” your life.
Listen to some music.
Search for the top 100 songs back to, say, 1990's or early 2000’s. That should bring you to loads of memories. The music you played while driving your favorite car, the tracks you played while you were on the park one Sunday afternoon, those songs you heard from your favorite band -- really, there is so much that you can remember just by listening to those old top tracks.
Use those feet!
Stroll to that place you miss. Is your favorite shop still there? How about visiting your favorite restaurant and savoring the dish you once loved so much? Walk around the area and reminisce memories. How much has changed since you last visited that place?
Scan your old files and art projects.
May it be from school, an old journal, a forgotten diary or a page from old magazine that you cut. You’ll be surprised by how many "nostalgic moments" are hiding behind those aged pages.
Shop for old movies.
Maid In Manhattan, Toy Story in 1995, or The Princess Bride? Yes, yes. Time flies so fast, doesn’t it? Find your favorite movies from the nearby DVD shop, or stream a few from Netflix. You might have even forgotten some of your favorite scenes from way back when!
Play an old game.
These days, games are all about Xbox, and computers with keyboards to pound. Take yourself back to your childhood days. What was your favorite game? A simple card game? Climbing an oak tree? You can never be too old to play these games again Even a game of silly hide and seek, try it with your loved ones.
Visit your alma mater.
There’s no better place to be if you’re up for some nostalgic moments than visiting your old school. Simply by stepping into your old classroom or talking to your professor can bring back hundreds of flashbacks.
At the end, you will know that nostalgia is more than just reminiscing the moments. That fuzzy emotion will be taking you back to fond memories and life’s picture itself comes back to you.
