DIY Chapped Lip Treatment

DIY Chapped Lip Treatment
Image 1 In the winter months our bodies crave hydration. The cold air dries out our tissues, and there is only so much hydration from the inside can help. In addition to drinking water, we have to apply extra goodness from the outside. Our lips are one of those organs that require extra love. If they are feeling chapped, or you simply want to protect them against becoming chapped, below is a basic routine and treatment you can follow. Put it into the works, and then simply apply some Everyday Minerals lip butter and you will have luscious, kissable lips all winter long. Image 2 Exfoliate The first step to great lips, is to rid them of dead, dry skin. Mix up some honey and brown sugar, and then swipe it across your lips one to two times a week. Gently rub it around, mush your lips together, and let it sit for as long as you’d like. Rinse off (or lick off) then move onto step to: hydrating. Image 3 Hydrate Give your lips an extra protective layer of soothing, hydrating goodness. After and between exfoliations, rub the below mixture across your lips. I like to apply nightly before bed. Image 4 Ingredients: 1 Tbs Shea Butter 1 Tbs Olive Oil 1 Tbs Almond Oil 1 Tbs Coconut Oil 1 Tbs Shaved Beeswax 5 Drops Lavender Essential Oil Tools: 16oz Mason jar with lid Small pot for boiling water Tongs Funnel Container for lip balm Directions: Fill a small pot with water and set it over a medium flame to heat up. Place shea butter, oils, and essential oil in a 16oz mason jar. Remove the mason jar lid and set it at the bottom of your pot. Place the mason jar on top, so it is submerged in the water, but sits on the ring and doesn’t touch the bottom. Stir oils in the mason jar until they are fully melted and the lavender is able to infuse (approx. 5 minutes). Add beeswax and continue to stir until fully melted. Remove mason jar from the heat, and let cool for 5 minutes. Before it is fully set, pour the mixture into your final lip balm container using a funnel. Let fully cool, and then apply daily.
